I can sense this from your observations regarding "jaw position" and how the voice can adapt through the way a singer can adjust their mouth position. I am only aquainted with these details only slightly, and only through hearing the observations of others in your field of work. I only wanted to touch on something mentioned in your analysis. It was about the idea of being "transported to another place" through Mr. Hatfield's vocals. When it comes to this particular song, personally, I am transported to another place EVERY time I watch and hear it. Maybe it's because I am NOT a vocalist or anyone who knows much about the subject. All I know is that Bobby Hatfield singing this song, moves me. Moves me more than hearing the hundreds of other vocalists who have attempted to perform it. I can't explain it. I don't know why it happens every time he sings it. But it does. There's something pure about it. It resonates. I appreciate your knowledge on this subject. Your analysis comes from many years of experience, I'm sure. I am only trying to help explain some of the negative responses here in the comments. We have been listening to this track for about 60 years. It's a little alarming to spend six decades listening to, and being moved by, a song and artist, and then have some "expert" tell you it's "nice" but it could have been better. Whoa.... With all due respect, you must understand that most of us out here listening to this song for so long have always felt it is perfection.

I watch this video a few times each year and really appreciate your comments. First i suggest that you react to her most recent origional "Bad Valentine" with Toby Gad. It is fire, high attitude, confident a great si ger faning fun in a small venue. Second a comment on this performance when she was 9, what makes her awesome. Her open wild attitude about what she is singing is very different than her attitude about singing. She is very serious all the way through, no smiles, especially at the end, her expression and body language is very introspective not celebratory. She takes this whole process seriously, that helps her improve

I am a huge fan of Angelina and I always enjoy your reactions. Recently she has performed two covers that I rank amongst her best that are very different. Unchained Melody at the Nobel Peace prize is pure class and for me her most beautiful singing and she looks like a Persian princess. The other is "If I were a Boy" in London with Toby Gad which is much more pop modern and again better than the famous hit song. What makes her awesome is very different in these two performances, so I guess I am asking you for a twofer. I just watched your reaction to "I Put a Spell on You" for about the 10th time and finally have a comment. A 9 year ol girl, or an 18 year old young woman can be this good partly because she is really serious about what she is doing. Watch the video again, there is no smiling she is in the zone, feeling the music, intently listening to the band, totally absorbed into the song and at the end when the average performer would be all happy because she nailed it, she is very thoughtful, perhaps asking would it have been better if. Of course she is enjoying it but she is working and for me that is how she became so awesome.

Here is what I have observed about Angelina that makes her stand out! She seems to have developed a real passion for music at an early age, she had a microphone in hand singing a Whitney Houston song at age 28 months! GOD blessed her with thicker vocal chords than most females, watch her age 12 video singing How Great Thou Art in Elvis's original key! Her grandmother is a world famous poet and painter, who became famous at age 9, she is a very passionate person, she recognized that in her granddaughter early and worked with Angelina and her parents, especially her Daughter Sara Astar, Angelina's mom, to nurture that talent as well as protect her and her talent! GOD blessed us with many talents, it's just that many go unrecognized or encouraged! Her family supports and protects her, her uncle is her Manager and protects her business interests and keeps her fun loving and grounded, her grandmother Mery Zamani and mom Sara protect her emotionally and her little sister Juliette is her constant companion! Angelina is doing what she loves and is passionate about! She developed her style from two main artists she loved Billie Holiday and Elvis, others also flavor her style but those are her key sources! I think Mery had a lot to do with research into older singers! Mery certainly knows how the wolves can attack and try to steal your talent and passion! That's my outside view of what I have seen!

From the start of this song, the piano and even the simple singing style is actually very reminiscent of the Korean folk songs my dad loved, he played me guitar and sang just like this. So this performance ensnared my heart. Another thing is the words he chose to tenderly elongate or say softly or shout, and the choice of words and timing of respectful language vs informal "home" language, it all strikes so close to the heart. When he cried "uri umma! (mom!)" I cried so hard, you can hear every child's voice coming from grown man. His storytelling and sincerity is immaculate and moving. It is extremely interesting to hear your specialist analysis of every other part of this performance, that I could never have known. It made me appreciate this singer even more. Many vocal analysis reviews do not come close to touching on the depth of your discuss. Thank you very much for your video.
